Hello APP Colleagues,
On Monday, February 20, 2023 we welcomed Dr. Ramandeep Kaur to discuss CKD.
Dr. Kaur is a second year fellow in Nephrology and HTN at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. Prior to her fellowship, she had a long history of working in the rural areas where she saw a prevalence of CKD primarily in the setting of DM-2 and HTN.
Dr. Kaur attended medical school in India at Government Medical College, in Amritsar, which is one of the first medical institutes built by the British in India before the 1947 (that is before India and Pakistan became different countries).
After completing medical school, she appeared for United States Medical Licensing Examination and completed her residency in Internal Medicine from Mount Sinai Hospital Center in Chicago, IL.
After her residency, Dr. Kaur worked for nearly 5 years as a nocturnist in Laconia and Plymouth in New Hampshire.
The zeal to learn more about how the human body functions led her to explore more in the field of Nephrology and thus led her to the Nephrology fellowship at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.
She considers Dr. Clay Block her mentor and someone she would like to emulate in hard work (“as I know I cannot match him in knowledge”).
Dr. Kaur has two sons, aged 5 and half and 3 and half. She adds that she is very well supported by her loving husband in her endeavors.
And in her words: “I am very thankful to everyone for this opportunity given to me and will try my best to deliver the points which we all can share in the appropriate patient care. Learning is all about sharing and the more we share, the more we learn ourselves. “
