On May 19th, we welcomed Carlos Borges, PA-C to present on Management of Pneumonia in the ICU.
Carlos grew up in Fall River, Massachusetts, where his family settled after immigrating from the Azores. From a young age, he developed a keen interest in medicine, which led him to become an EMT. After graduating high school, Carlos pursued his passion for the sciences at the University of Rhode Island, earning a degree in biological sciences.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Carlos dedicated himself to frontline healthcare, working as an EMT with the university’s ambulance corps and as a CNA in the local ER. His experiences during this critical time inspired him to further his education and pursue a career as a Physician Assistant.
Carlos earned his Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies at Bryant University in North Smithfield, Rhode Island. As a student, he served as a board member for the Rhode Island Association of Physician Assistants, representing his peers. Throughout his training, he discovered a deep passion for Critical Care Medicine, prompting him to seek specialized experience through DHMC’s critical care APP residency program.
Set to graduate in September, Carlos looks forward to joining an ICU team, where he can continue to grow as an intensivist and make a meaningful impact in critical care.
