Hello APP Colleagues,
On Monday, April 7, 2025 from 12:15 PM to 1:00 PM we welcomed Sara Gussenhoven, MPAS, PA-C who presented:
Surgical Indications for Endocarditis.
Sara grew up in a small, rural town on the border of Idaho and Montana, where she was often outside either camping, fishing, or rafting. Once she graduated high school, she then became an EMT/firefighter and became passionate about assisting others. She was driven to seek higher medical training and began obtaining her bachelor's degree, where she was a teaching assistant for anatomy and physiology along with cellular and molecular biology. In the summers, Sara swapped out her rural firefighting days to be a white-water rafting guide through Glacier National Park.
Sara is a 2024 graduate of Franklin Pierce University’s Physician Assistant program where she served as class president. Upon graduation, Sara joined the Cardiothoracic Surgery APP Residency Program where she is due to graduate in September. While uncertain about her plans after the fellowship, she states that she hopes that wherever she ends up, she will have the opportunity to continue learning and developing her skills, just as DHMC has allowed her to do thus far.
